In the Early Stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an overwhelming amount of research regarding COVID-19 and
health outcomes for tobacco users. Knowing there are negative health impacts intertwined with COVID-19 and tobacco
users, we were curious to see if young people changed their usage due to the pandemic.
Lyndale Avenue North has been identified as a High Injury Street in the City’s
Vision Zero Action Plan. This project aims to address safety concerns along
Lyndale Avenue North between Plymouth Avenue North and 21st Avenue
North, including the #1 highest crash intersection in the city – West Broadway
Avenue. This portion of Lyndale Avenue North is currently a four-lane
undivided street, a layout that has particular safety challenges. This project
will implement quick, inexpensive solutions to lower vehicle speeds, improve
pedestrian safety, and help us reach our Vision Zero goal to eliminate all
deaths and serious injuries on our streets.
