MPS Back to School Supply Drive

Even though Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is starting the year with distance learning, students still need school supplies. Whether it is pencils and notebooks or headphones and hand sanitizer, MPS wants to make sure every family has the supplies necessary to help their students succeed. To make that happen, MPS is welcoming donations on Wednesday afternoon.

Community organizations such as Bikes & Bites are rallying to help drive donations for the back-to-school event. On Wednesday, Bikes & Bites will be hosting a kid-friendly bike drop/family ride delivering school supplies to Green Central. In addition, corporate partners such as RSM US LLP will be bringing supplies for 1,500 students to the event. Anyone is welcome to bring a donation.

What: Back to School supply drive
When: Wednesday, Aug. 19, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: Green Central Park Elementary School  3416 4th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55408 (parking lot)

Those who would like to make a cash donation can do so at and indicate “MPS Student Support Fund” in the designation field. However, that fund will also support other social-emotional needs for students. To specifically donate school supplies, the district recommends donating physical supplies due to the additional turnaround time and logistics needed for supplies purchased with cash donations.
